E-bikes are welcome at OVR when used safely and respectfully. For everyone’s safety, the following rules apply on campground property:
- Only Class 1 and Class 2 e-bikes are permitted. Class 3 e-bikes, modified e-bikes, off-road motorized bikes, mopeds, mini-bikes, scooters, ATVs, and similar motorized vehicles are not permitted.
- Riders must be at least 16 years old to ride an e-bike.
- Liability insurance is required to operate an e-bike on OVR property. The rider, parent/guardian, and/or site renter must carry liability coverage applicable to e-bike use and are responsible for any injury, damage, or loss caused by the e-bike. OVR may request proof of coverage but is not responsible for verifying coverage.
- All riders must follow the campground speed limit of 10 mph. Ride slowly in busy areas and always use extra caution around children, pedestrians, pets, and vehicles.
- E-bikes may be used on campground roads only. They are not permitted in pedestrian-only areas, including the office, store, pool area, lake, playgrounds, pavilions, recreation areas, sports fields, or walkways.
- Riders must yield to pedestrians and vehicles. Ride single file, stay to the right, and do not weave through people, campsites, or parked vehicles.
- Riders under 17 must wear a helmet. Helmets are strongly recommended for all riders.
- Lights are required after dusk. E-bikes operated after dark must have a working front light and rear light.
- Reckless riding is not permitted. Speeding, racing, stunts, towing riders, carrying extra passengers, or discourteous operation may result in loss of riding privileges.
- Charging must be done safely. Use only manufacturer-approved chargers. Do not charge e-bikes or batteries in bathhouses, offices, stores, laundry rooms, pavilions, or other common buildings.
- Riders must comply with New Jersey law when operating off OVR property. This includes any applicable licensing, registration, helmet, and insurance requirements. Current requirements should be confirmed with the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission.
- OVR may restrict or prohibit any e-bike that appears unsafe, modified, too fast, improperly operated, or inconsistent with these rules.
- Violations may result in immediate loss of e-bike privileges and/or removal from the campground, depending on severity.
